The Million-Dollar Question

Who should America put $1 million behind?

Somewhere in this country is a leader with the character, competence, and integrity to bring people together. We believe America should help find them.

One American will receive $1 million to run for president.

Why this matters

Something isn’t working.

43%

of voters are dissatisfied with both major political parties.

45%

of Americans identified as political independents in 2025, a record high.

62%

say the two major parties are doing such a poor job that a third major party is needed.

Those numbers don’t mean Americans agree on everything. They mean millions of us are looking for better choices.

What we’re looking for

Better leadership starts with better criteria.

  1. 01

    Character

Who are you when the cameras are off?

  2. 02

    Competence

Can you understand hard problems and make sound decisions?

  3. 03

    Integrity

Will you tell the truth when it costs you something?

  4. 04

    Judgment

Can you lead through pressure, uncertainty, and consequence?

  5. 05

    Ability to unite

Can you bring people together without asking them to become the same?

Three ways into the search

There is a role for you.

Path 01

I might be the candidate

Maybe you’ve never thought of yourself as a politician. Good.

We’re interested in people who have actually led, built, solved, served, managed, listened, failed, learned, and brought people together.

Could that be you?

Path 02

I have someone in mind

America’s next great leader might not be looking for the job.

Maybe it’s someone you’ve worked for. Someone who transformed your town. A teacher everyone trusts. A veteran people follow. A business owner who takes care of employees. A public servant who gets things done without making everything about themselves.

Who came to mind?

Path 03

I want America to have a better choice

You don’t have to run to have a say in who should.

The Question · This week

What problem do you wish our leaders would stop arguing about and actually solve?

One question. No party talking points required.

The search is growing

The search is already underway.

Nominations, answers, and stories from across the country will show up here as they come in. Real people only, shared with permission.

Beyond red & blue

You’re probably more complicated than a party label.

Pew Research Center sorted Americans into nine political groups (not two) based on their actual political and cultural values.

Where do you fit?

Your result doesn’t tell you how to vote. That’s kind of the point.

Explore

See more than one side.

Nobody needs another website telling them what to think. Here are a few tools that make it easier to see how information is being presented — and look at the underlying facts for yourself.

Why we started

Why we’re doing this.

This didn’t start because our founder wanted to be president.

He doesn’t.

It started after Jeff Hause lost his brother and several close friends far too young — and began asking why problems affecting millions of American families seem impossible for Washington to solve.

That question led to a much bigger one:

What if the problem isn’t that America doesn’t have better leaders? What if we’re just looking for them in the wrong places?
